 BARNEY
The love of beagles runs strong in our family. It started with my childhood pet beagle and continued when my husband and I got our first beagle puppy. She died at age 10 from Cushing's disease 17 years ago when our children were very young so they didn't remember her that much. A few years later, our daughter pleaded for a rabbit so we adopted a blue dutch and had him 10 years. During our rabbit years, our neighbor adopted a young beagle and we became the regular dog-sitter for the next 12 years. Both beagle and rabbit tolerated each other and got along. Age and health issues took their lives just a year apart. Over Christmas break we talked about getting a dog and decided the time had come to adopt. Of course we wanted another beagle. The search began and led us to WAG. A month after submitting our application our family headed to WAG's Adoption Day where we all agreed that Barney was the beagle for us. We took him to the Wimberley park before heading home and introduced him to Geocaching, and within 30 minutes he sniffed out his first cache. He loves all the trails we take him on and has shown great agility climbing up angled trees. Barney is a sweet and calm-natured dog, but look out when he gets on a scent. He gets so excited, sniffing for the hunt and chase of deer, squirrels, rabbits and whatever else crosses his path. He is a great addition to our family, we are so glad to have him.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
WAG Rescue is a volunteer supported organization. Our volunteers are the heart of our organization, and we could not rescue and adopt out our dogs without their help.
MARKET DAY
One of the ways we receive funding from the Wimberley Lions Club is for our volunteers to work the concession stands at the Wimberley Market Days, the first Saturday of the month from March to December. WAG Rescue needs volunteers to work at the concession stands. It is a fun, rewarding atmosphere; email if you're interested.
FOSTER HOMES
WAG Rescue does not have a facility, so the foster family is a vital part of our organization.
It's through the generous hearts and homes of fosters that we ensure the animals who come into our care will never again be alone, hungry, sick, or afraid. We can only rescue as many dogs as we have foster homes available. All we ask is for you to open your heart and your home to a dog in need of a second chance. Please email if you can help foster one
of our dogs. You can read about our foster program at our website
