Thank you for considering a WAG Rescue Dog for adoption! We are a small rescue and adoption group in Wimberley, Texas, the "Hill Country", about an hour south of Austin. We do not have a facility. Our dogs are in loving foster homes. It is our goal to make the right match for the dog and your family, and we do our very best to ensure that. We take pride in the care we give our dogs to ensure they are as healthy as possible before adoption. Our dogs are rescued off the streets or from shelters that euthanize or owner surrenders.
Adopters must agree to keep the dog current on all vaccinations.
Adopters must agree to keep the dog on heartworm prevention year round.
Adopters must agree to spend the time and money necessary to provide veterinary care.
WAG Rescue dog's are sterilized before adoption. If too young to sterilize the adopter agrees to abide by the Sterilization Agreement.
We require all dogs in the potential adopter's home to be current on all vaccinations and spayed or neutered.
We do not condone dogs being left outside 24/7. Our dogs are indoor/outdoor and are meant to be companions.
We do not condone dogs being chained for any reason.
We do not condone dogs transported in the back of an open bed truck.
Homes with fenced yards are strongly preferred, but exceptions are made based on the size, age and activity level of the dog.
We will adopt out of state, but we do not put our dogs on airplanes. You are welcome to visit Wimberley if you truly are interested in one of our dogs.
We do not adopt out dogs to homes to be trained as guard or attack dogs.
We ask that if for some reason you cannot keep the dog you adopted you contact us and do not surrender the dog to another person or shelter. WAG Rescue makes a lifetime commitment to it's dogs.
Before proceeding with the adoption process, please consider the following:
Step one: Find the right dog
Step two: Complete the Application
The information you provide on the application will be used to determine if your home environment may meet the needs of the dog you wish to adopt. The application does not obligate you to adopt any dog. Completion of this application does not guarantee an adoption of a WAG Rescue dog.
WE FREQUENTLY RECEIVE MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS ON A DOG. APPLICATIONS ARE CONSIDERED IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY ARE RECEIVED. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT AN APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN SET UP A DATE FOR YOU TO MEET ONE OF OUR DOGS.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a date and time to meet the dog will be set up that is convenient for all.
Our dog adoption fee is $125, Senior (6+ years) dogs are $75 and puppies are $75 to $125 based on age. There is an addition adoption fee of $75 if the adopted puppy is too young to spay or neuter. Once you show proof the puppy has been sterlized the $75 will be refunded to the adopter.
